Am I too hairy for a massage?
Recently, I have been asked on several occasions whether we provide massages for men with body hair. I am pleased to confirm that we do.
The amount of body hair an individual has does not impact the quality or relaxation of the massage experience. It remains pleasurable and calming regardless.
Fact in today`s society
Today, it is common for men to shave, trim, or wax their bodies to achieve a smooth appearance and feel. At Male Masseur in Manchester, our therapists take pride in maintaining their physiques through regular training and ensure they are well-groomed for their clients. However, if you prefer to retain your natural hair, this is absolutely acceptable and poses no issue.
No matter how hairy you are, you can still enjoy a massage. For more hairy clients, our therapists will use a slightly increased amount of oil to facilitate smooth gliding motions and to prevent pulling or tugging at the hair, which can cause discomfort.
In fact, having more body hair can sometimes be advantageous during a massage, as the nerve endings in the skin may become more sensitive, producing a tingling sensation throughout the body. The idea of hairs standing on end is quite apt in this context.
If you prefer a trimmed or groomed appearance, Male Masseur in Manchester can also provide grooming services prior to your massage.
Massage therapists work with all body types and hair levels every day. Body hair is completely normal and not something most therapists are bothered by at all. Their focus is on muscles, tension, and helping you feel better—not on how you look.
A few practical notes that might help you feel more comfortable:
- You do not need to shave or trim unless you want to.
- Oil or lotion still works fine on hairy bodies; therapists are trained for that.
- If anything ever feels uncomfortable (pressure, technique, temperature), you can always speak up—hair included, but it’s rarely an issue.
If you’re feeling self-conscious, that’s understandable, but from a professional standpoint, it’s a non-issue. You deserve a massage just like anyone else.
