Aromatherapy oils to boost energy and healing

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Aromatherapy oils can work wonders when you feel tired and lethargic, lifting your mood and boosting your energy levels.

We often think of aromatherapy as something to help us relax and unwind at the end of a long day. However, many oils can work just as well to get you moving in a morning or revive tired muscles and a flagging mind in the middle of the day.

Quick to the point

Clear, fresh scents are best for waking up and giving you a burst of energy, and these are most effective when mixed with cold water, for example, in cold showers or compresses.

Scented candles or incense sticks, that fill your home with zesty, uplifting aromas are also ideal.

  • To stimulate the mind – Lemon, orange, peppermint, pathchouli
  • To stimulate the body – Tea tree, rosemary, rose
  • To stimulate emotions – Bergamot, pine, sandalwood

🌿 Energising Aromatherapy Oils

These essential oils are commonly used to increase alertness, focus, and uplift your mood:

🍋 Citrus Oils

  • Sweet Orange / Orange – Uplifting, energising, and stress-reducing.
  • Lemon – Refreshing, stimulates concentration and clarity.
  • Grapefruit – Invigorating and mentally stimulating.

🌿 Minty & Herbal Oils

  • Peppermint – Sharp, cooling boost; helps with focus and mental energy.
  • Rosemary – Enhances alertness and memory.
  • Eucalyptus – Clears the mind, refreshing and invigorating.

🌱 Spicy & Woody Oils

Basil – Clears mental fatigue and supports focus.

Cinnamon – Warming and stimulating (use sparingly).

Ginger – Energising and grounding.

🩹 Oils Often Used for Healing Support

While essential oils don’t heal medical conditions on their own, some can support relaxation, recovery, and well-being:

🛌 Calming & Restorative

  • Lavender – Soothing, great for tension relief and better sleep.
  • Chamomile – Gentle, calming and supportive during stress.
  • Clary Sage – Helps soothe emotional tension.

🩹 Soothing & Anti-Inflammatory

  • Tea Tree – Natural cleansing aroma, often used for skin care support.
  • Frankincense – Grounding, supports emotional balance and a sense of calm.
  • Helichrysum – Sometimes used in topical blends for muscle comfort.

🧴 How to Use Essential Oils

Diffusion

Add 3–10 drops of essential oil (or a blend) to a diffuser:

  • For energy: try peppermint + lemon or grapefruit + rosemary.
  • For healing/support: try lavender + frankincense.

Inhalation

  • Place 1–2 drops on a tissue or your palms, cup your hands over your nose and inhale deeply for a quick boost.

Topical (with dilution)

Essential oils are potent. Always dilute before applying to skin:

  • 2–3 drops oil per 1 tsp (5 mL) carrier oil (like jojoba or sweet almond).
  • Good blends for muscles: lavender + ginger.
  • For calming: chamomile + frankincense.

⚠️ Safety Tips

✅ Always dilute essential oils before skin application.
❌ Do not ingest essential oils unless under guidance of a qualified professional.
👶 Be cautious using certain oils around children, pets, or if pregnant.
🚗 Some oils (e.g., peppermint) can be intense; avoid close inhalation while driving.
